The Freemasons  Royal Sussex Lodge 355  first met here on 1st May 1818, three years after The Goddard Arms was built.  To mark their 200 anniversary Swindon Heritage organised the blue plaque which was unveiled by Provincial Grandmaster for Wiltshire Philip Bullock, Phil Johnson and Richard Goddard on 17th November 2018.
