Jubilee Clock, Swindon, Wiltshire

The original name for this piece was the Millenium Clock but now this giant eye-ball clock is named the Jubilee Clock as it was commissioned to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.  It was originally installed at the junction of Canal walk, Bridge Street, The Parade and Regent Street on 28th February 2003 and is the work of Edwin Wright (designer) and the Cumbria Clock Company.

People did seem to have a strong opinion of it - not always favourably - but there is no denying it is memorable.  Some referred to it as the 'eye in the sky'.

We were saddened when the clock stopped in 2008 and removed in 2009.  However we were delighted to see it has been refurbished and was installed outside the railway station in 2012 - and very good it looks too.
