IN MEMORY OF THE
REV. WILLIAM MAURICE MACDONALD, CLERK, B.G.L.
SOMETIME FELLOW OF NEW COLLEGE, OXFORD,
AND FOR A PERIOD OF NEARLY FORTY YEARS
RECTOR OF THIS PARISH AND OF BLACKLAND.
THIS INSCRIPTION IS PLACED HERE BY HIS SORROWING
WIDOW. THE DECEASED, SECOND SON OF THE VENERABLE
WILLIAM MACDONALD BY HIS FIRST WIFE FRANCES FRANCIS
ONLY CHILD OF MAURICE HILLER AND SOPHIA GOODMAN,
WAS BORN AT BROAD HINTON THE 5TH DAY OF APRIL A.D. 1814
AND DIED IN THE PARSONAGE OF THIS PARISH
THE 17TH DAY OF APRIL A.D. 1880.
HIS BODY LIES BURIED IN THE CHURCHYARD NEAR THIS SPOT.
