This war memorial is located in a park in Grange-over-Sands in Cumbria. It is in a rather lovely setting, inside the ornamental gardens that runs alongside Main Street. The memorial records names of local men lost in the First and Second World Wars.
We have transcribed the inscription and names on the memorial which can be viewed at: Transcription. Should you want to print the transcription as a tribute, please use the Print version - this version has all our usual links and ads removed.
As well as the memorial, there is a plinth which gives details about each man lost. We can only admire the research that went into finding this information about each man - the person or people involved have truely adhered to 'Lest We Forget'. It can be hard to read details of these young lives lost - but isn't that part of the reason to remember? We must not forget war means lives are lost.
