Blue Plaque for Sam Allen, Swindon, Wiltshire



Samuel Henry Allen served Swindon Town Football Club for over 50 years taking them from an amateur club to professional.  His work is extensive and included 44 years as Secretary, was a member of the Executive of the Southern League and a representative on the League Management Committee.

Sam is remembered by a blue plaque by the Swindon Heritage team at his former home at 44 Kent Road.  The plaque was unveiled on 18th May 2018 by his granddaughter-in-law Pat Chapman, great-grandson Rob and John Trollope (former Swindon player).

He is buried in  Radnor Street Cemetery, a short distance from his home.
