Our NHS service began in 1948 and this mural is to commemorate the 70th anniversary of that start.  It is located in the reception area of the main building of the  Great Western Hospital  in Marlborough Road.  Swindon feels very conected to the NHS service because it had its own equivalent in the Medical Fund for the Great Western Railway works way before the NHS was even conceived; it became the blueprint for the NHS.  This mural includes many things associated with Swindon and its landmarks.
