Back to 'Inside' pageThe history leaflet at the church suggests this tomb (located in the chancel) is probably 13th Century and is said to represent Sir Samson Foliat. He held land in the village in 1249. The cross-legged style, like this carving, came into fashion about 1240 and lasted for about 100 years.
