These photographs were taken in a wooded area between the footpath at Shaw Ridge and housing in the Ramleaze/Shaw area - follow the map link to see their location.  We took so many photographs on our short walk through the woods we couldn't decide which to put on our website pages, so decided to put them all!

We remember the trees in this wooded area being planted in the late 1980s and it is lovely to see them so grown up after thirty years.  In May we were walking along the footpath and noticed blue showing through the trees so took a few steps into the trees.  It was another world! Although only a relatively small area, it was not like being in the middle of a housing estate but being back in nature.  We could see no other sign of human habitation at times and the bluebells were stunning.

Perhaps because bluebells are hidden away in forests so we don't see them often, when we do see them they are rather special.  For a few short weeks the forest floor is ablaze with this bright blue and the smell as good as the most expensive perfume.
