Admitedly this area of Swindon town centre seems to have become less loved than it has been in the past - which is not helped by the many day time drinking places in this part of town.  But look at old photograph of Swindon though and it was once a hive of activity and this rather elegant building with its fine curves and large windows must have been a grand view over it all.  Sadly it has been left empty and neglected for at least 6 years now so perhaps we should be worried for it.  We have heard rumours of it being turned into flats, but we really don't know if this will happen and how sympathetic to its history any changes might be.  Swindon has lost so many of our beautiful heritage buildings that we certainly do hope it will be saved and if a new use can give a new lease of life, then that is better than the alternative.

We have several photographs of the same shot - but taken over a few years which, sadly, reflect the deterioration of the building.  But hopefully we will be able to add more as refurbishment takes place showing it being brought back to its glory.
