This building is in the heart of the Gorse Hill area of Swindon was originally the Gorse Hill Infants School and the street name was School Street not Avening Street.  However, currently we are not too sure what it is called and if it is joined with the two other buildings it is close to.  But as our photographs are supposed to be about the building, we won't dwell on the name other than to say during its long history - dating from 1878 - it may also have used the names Gorse Hill School, Gorse Hill School and Nursery (which shows on its current website - and is described as a Primary Academy), Gorse Hill Primary School, and finally Gorse Hill School and Childrens Centre.  It seems we must re-visit to establish what it is now called and we will update this page accordingly.
