This artwork 'Fishing for the Moon' is by Michael Farrell and was unveiled December 1990 and is made of brass, marble and stone. It is located between Dover Street and Swindon Road and was commissioned by Thamesdown Borough Council as part of a general improvement initiative 1982-1990.
When we photographed it in 2017 the area was looking rather sorry for itself - weeds growing everywhere and the gardens unkempt but it must have been a nice place to spend a while when it was still cared for. Swindon Local Studies have a photograph taken at it's unveiling when it was looking much better:
