Morden Bridge, Purton Road, Swindon, Wiltshire
The old Purton Road was superceded by a much wider road which was needed due to vast housing expansion developments in West and North Swindon. Although the original hump back bridge over the railway line had character, it was a pain to use as the view of oncoming traffic was restricted and the bridge was narrow. The new road and bridge was a vast improvement for road users.
At time of writing this, (September 2014), the old road is used by walkers and for construction traffic to park up near the newly built area on Ridgeway Farm. We walked along the road and were able to take photographs of the new bridge, but of course only one side of it.
