Radnor Street Cemetery, Swindon, Wiltshire
This is the grave of Edward Johnson and Matilda Hammett and Herbert F. Marfleet.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission headstone for Herbert 'Bert' Marfleet was installed in 2015 - some 96 years after he died of malaria after his return from fighting in the first world war. Thanks to his wife Elsie's god daughter Joyce Murgatroyd telling his story and the research of local historians Mark Sutton, Frances Bevan and Andy Binks, Bert finally received the recognition he deserves. More information can be found at the Swindon Advertiser website.
