Our photographs are a snapshot in time to show a building's history.

According to Mark Child's book 'The Swindon Book Companion' this property was built in the mid 1840s from local stone and has been used as a pub ever since. Reading his account of the various landlords through that time, it appears it has been hard to make a living here as many had other occupations too. Mark also goes on to inform us the original name of Heart in Hand lasted until about 1862 when it became The Rising Sun. Apparently it was locally known as The Roaring Donkey for decades before the official name change in 1999.
