Sanford Street Boys School, also known as Sanford House, is in the Centre of Swindon.  It was opened by 1881 but there appears to be '1880' shown in the brickwork decoration, so perhaps it was built at this time; we do not know when it ceased to be a school.

During 2014 the building was upgraded and became the Swindon Advice and Support Centre.

Duncan's father Harold (born 1921) was a pupil at this school.  He told the story of how he regularly used to ring the bell in the morning to warn pupils they didn't have long before school was to start; one day the clanger fell from the bell and hit the headmaster.  It was the last time the bell was rung.

Our memory tells us that during the 1980s the building was used by the Education Department as offices and the Swindon Council's Childrens Services Department, using the name Sanford House.  They moved out in December 2012 and the building was boarded up soon after.
