This building is rather curious. Almost un-noticed by passers by, if you stop and look at it, it has some interesting features. Is it a house? Was it a church?
Mandy spoke to someone who worked here a few years ago who told her it used to be a nunnery so had living quarters and a worship area. But searching the web found no mention of this building's history - or perhaps we should say there were so many pages about house prices for this street that we gave up trying to find the relevant information.
The last two photographs on the page are of Neville House - the white building attached to this building's right side. It is number 26 Milton Road and divided into flats, but we feel these two addresses were originally one big building, although without further investigation we cannot say for sure it is. At the back of the buildings it is difficult to tell them apart - there are windows on the Milton Road property that match exactly the 'church' part of this building in Tennyson Street.
From the outside, number 1 looks like it might be just a smaller building between two others (as indeed the photograph on the David Jarvis website shows their building to be just the smaller section), but at least some of the 'church' has been used by David Jarvis Associates Ltd.
More photographs of the other property can be seen at:

If you are able to give us information about this building - or buildings - we will be pleased to update this page with correct information.
Thank you.
