Our photographs are a snapshot in time to show a building's history.
Businesses shown may no longer be trading here.
In 'The Swindon Book' by Mark Child, we are informed this building opened in 1906 as part of the 'A' shop for the Great Western Railway works where engines were weighed and balanced. After becoming disused, Archers Brewery refurbished and relocated here in 1999. After a further refurbishment in the region of two million pounds, it's latest owners (Anthony and Allyson Windle) opened the building in 2011 as a restaurant and micro brewery named The Weighbridge Brewhouse. Having visited the restaurant, we are impressed with the work carried out to the building which acknowledges it's GWR history whilst providing a contemporary restaurant (which serves excellent food ).
