The Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Longcot, Oxfordshire, England
The church of St. Mary the Virgin at Longcot is a small but beautiful place to visit. Inside there is a feeling of serenity - a peaceful place to spend a while. The church members were very welcoming each time we have visited and obviously care a great deal about their building. On our first visit back in June 2002 some necessary repairs had been completed and the newly varnished wooden pew floors looked splendid. Our next visit was not until September 2016 when the church was open as part of the Heritage Open Days event - there were people there to show visitors around and even offered the chance to have a go at bell ringing.
The history leaflet available inside the church is easy to read and full of factual information about the church and the village. Any dates and information shown on these pages are taken from this leaflet. Also available to look at is a transcription of the church registers.
The church is a Grade II* listed building - more information about the listing can be found at the Historic England website.
