Radnor Street Cemetery, Swindon, Wiltshire
This is the grave of Squadron Leader Harold Morley Starr; it also remembers his brother Wing Commander Norman John Starr (who is buried in Dunkirk Town Cemetery). Both were killed in the 2nd World War.
Harold was killed, aged 25, in the Battle of Britain - shot down over Kent whilst parachuting after bailing out of his burning Hurricane plane. His wife was carrying their unborn child. On Tuesday 15th September 2015 Harold was remembered during the Battle of Britain 75th Anniversary Commemorations - a flypast of 4 Spitfires and 2 Hurricanes flew over Harold's grave at Radnor Street Cemetery in tribute to his bravery and ultimate sacrifice. Also, during a week of events, was the naming of a Class 43 locomotive by First Great Western; the engine has emblazoned on it: "Sqn Ldr Harold Starr ~ one of the few".
See the window erected on the chapel for the commemoration: memorial window.
