The Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Bishopstone, Wiltshire, England
|
|
Our first visit to Bishopstone was on a very cold day in January 2002 and returned in June 2003 on a much warmer day. The church of St. Mary is a Grade I listed building - more information about the listing can be found at the Historic England website.
Any information given on these pages is taken from the small history leaflet available inside the church.
We have used a few photographs from Ernest Kent - thanks Ernie. He has been researching the Kent family of this region and when he visited Bishopstone he was able to go inside and photograph some of the Kent family memorials found on the floor of the aisle, which are usually covered by a carpet. We have copied those memorials to this site, along with Ernest's transcriptions. Ernest can be contacted at: Ernest Kent.
Apologies for the poor quality of most of these photographs - they were actually shots captured from a video camera and have comparitively small file sizes.
