"Forever", Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire
This sculpture, 'Forever', was created by Mark Humphrey and donated to Royal Wootten Bassett. The plaque below shows it was unveiled by HRH The Princess Royal on 21st June 2016. The plaque also explains the symbolism of the various elements of the sculpture.
It is beautiful. Its lines are simple and relevant and the meanings behind the sculpture are rather beautiful too.
During darkness it is lit in red and takes on another dimension - from white for Peace to red for Remembrance, so both are represented in this sculpture. Thank you Mark for your message and your art.
The above was written before the sculpture broke. Sadly, it has now been removed as we understand it could not be safely repaired. We do have a few photographs of the empty plinth which we will add when time permits.
