Most of these photographs are shots captured from a video camera and are of poor quality.
We do intend re-visiting Winterbourne Bassett to take 'proper' photographs when time permits.
The church of St. Katharine and St. Peter at Winterbourne Bassett is set in beautiful countryside just on the edge of this quiet and peaceful village, not many miles from Avebury. The churchyard was well tended and the inside of the church felt peaceful and well looked after. There are some splendid memorials in the North chapel, and quite a lot of memorials on flagstones (which are unfortunately rather difficult to photograph).
It was interesting to see a large notice naming all the inhabitants (and their addresses) of the village at the beginning of the new millennium. We did not include a photograph of it here to respect the privacy of the villagers.
The church is a Grade I listed building - information about the listing can be seen at the
Historic England website.
