The Church of St. Mary Magdalene, Winterbourne Monkton, Wiltshire, England
Most of these photographs are shots captured from a video camera and are of poor quality. We do intend re-visiting Winterbourne Monkton to take 'proper' photographs when time permits.
The church at Winterbourne Monkton is in a peaceful setting in the Wiltshire countryside. The information leaflet inside the church tells us that what is now the chancel was originally the chapel, and although it is not known when it was built, it was standing in 1133.
An unusual feature inside the church is to see two huge tree trunks - they originally supported the bells in the free-standing bell tower.
The church of St. Mary Magdalene is a Grade II listed building - information about the listing can be seen at the Historic England website.
