Foxley has a long history - the village being mentioned in the Domesday Book (as Foxelege) - and the list of Rectors dates back to 1334. The church has some good stained glass windows and although everything feels very old, it is in relatively good order for its age, and feels most welcoming. At one time Foxley and Bremilham were one parish. The church of Bremilham is located close by, on Cowage Farm.
The church of is a Grade I listed building - more information about the listing can be found at the British Listed Buildings website.
There is lots of information about Foxley at the Wiltshire Online Parish Clerks website at: Foxley OPC. This super project is looking for volunteers and is hoping to eventually cover all parishes, so do check back from time to time if your particular area of interest is not yet covered.
