How splendid this window is to see in 'real life'. John Aubrey includes a mention of this window in his book Wiltshire Collections written in the 1660s, and includes some sketches showing detail of some sections of the window - use the link above to see them.
This window was repaired and cleaned during 1999/2000 after being vandalised (along with the West window) and was taken away for repair. A great deal of time and effort took place to raise money for the understandably high repair bill. What a result though. Congratulations to everyone involved - from the fundraising team to the artists whose skills enabled this glorious window to again become a part of this magnificant church.
During January 2016 one of the volunteers posted on Facebook that the reredos was being repaired and as a result for a short time the very bottom of the window was visible. We jumped at the chance of seeing the extra bit of it and managed to take some photographs. It may be a very long time before it is visible again - our thanks go to the volunteers who keep us informed of what's going on, not just opening the church for visitors.
