Having read a few publications, we discovered this chapel has gone under various names - for simplicity we have simply called it the Chantry Chapel.  Built as a Chantry Chapel, former names have been the Beauchamp Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary & St. Nicholas, the Beauchamp Chapel, the Tocotes-Beauchamp and (more laterly) the Bayntun Chapel.  As always, we avoid the perils of research into history and leave that to the experts!

The Chapel is to the south of the chancel and contains a number of monuments, some splendid windows and stone carvings as well as having it's own altar.  The painted ceiling is exceptional.  We were told that during the Civil War the Chapel was used as a stable for the soldiers' horses; thankfully the Chapel survived this mis-use.
