The Market Cross is located in the heart of Malmesbury, just in front of the Abbey.  It would be fair to say that this area is extremely busy with vehicles and pedestrians and it is very difficult to photograph the cross without a person or car being in it.  The Cross is Grade I listed - more information can be found at:  English Heritage

During the late 1880s many local people emmigrated to Ohio, USA, and at one time a shipping company had a representative selling tickets at the Market Cross.  One of Mandy's branch of the family emmigrated to Cleveland in Ohio and bought their tickets from the Cross.  These include Kate Lea (and future husband James Exton) and Kate's brother Fred (whose surname changed to Lee at some point).
