The Plunge Pool at Lydiard Park, Swindon, Wiltshire
When we visited Lydiard Park in 2006 there was lots of work going on in the grounds, including this area next to one end of the lake. A notice (photograph 0043 below) queried whether this was a boathouse or plunge pool, or even a holding tank for fish or mussels.
Five years later, in September 2011, work had been completed and a decision made - a new notice (photograph 0077) informs us that it is indeed a plunge pool (cold bath) which was built in 1820.
