Photographs of the Spire at Christ Church, Swindon, Wiltshire

The spire is very tall and difficult to photograph from our position on the ground.  The spire comes from the square tower at its base and holds a peal of 10 bells - if you would like to hear them, there are various recordings on You Tube.  A few years ago the Friends of Christ Church raised an inspiring £370,000 for necessary repair work to the spire.  Wow!  Well done everybody.

The tower and spire can be floodlit for a donation, usually to remember somebody or an anniversary.  In November 2018 the world remembered the sacrifices made during the Great War one hundred years earlier and in the days preceding the anniversary it was lit to remember in particular those who are named on the war memorials in Christ Church and those who are buried in the churchyard.  On the 10th November 2018 it was flooded in red and the bells rang out to the whole of Swindon.  We have a few more photos of this event:  More photographs
